Government decided to start the lockdown by placing severe travel restrictions, even e-commerce businesses found themselves at a loss. The sudden increase in visits and sales causes problems in terms of order management, stock of goods in the warehouse and shipping of products. Not all online shops are therefore able to benefit from the so-called "quarantine". Globally, what have been the user purchasing trends? In the first 20 days of the spread of the pandemic, there was a notable decrease in purchases on the Web. However, this did not coincide with a decline in the use of search engines, which were mainly used to findprovide information on Covid-19. To combat the spread of fake news, in that period Google decided to improve the visibility and positioning of content coming from official sources. The following graph shows the increase in visibility of the Ministry of Health website starting from the first days of March.

In a second pandemic phase, a notable increase in online purchases was finally noticed, but mainly aimed at basic necessities. Products that were not strictly necessary or could not be used during the lockdown were instead ignored. What were the sectors most affected by Covid-19? Tourism, public transport, fashion and events were the sectors that first and most severely suffered the consequences of the lockdown and, subsequently, of the fear of contagion. Predictably, websites selling Agent Email List medicines and food saw a surge in visits and sales. During the lockdown, sales for home hobby accessories, small sporting goods and toys increased. The home and furniture sector was also able to boast growth in purchases, albeit with lower receipts than usual. How did brands react to Covid-19? Amazon has chosen to prioritize the delivery of medical and essential products.





In particular, the incessant search for masks, disinfectants, soap, toilet paper, handkerchiefs and food was recorded from the beginning. To best deal with the emergency, the American giant has decided to hire 100,000 workers in the European Union, the United . Tendam, a well-known fashion retailer in Spain, after the forced closure of physical stores, aimed to promote the online store: it guaranteed free shipping of products and extended the return period up to 60 days. In the United Kingdom, the healthy fast food chain Leon decided to move online: in record time it created an e-commerce of dishes that were delivered to your home without necessarily having to use other apps to order. This is a bit like what Risotteria Porto Mancino in Verona has done, obviously on a smaller scale, also providing a free delivery service.
